I received a surprised call today:
Housing Agent: "Are you still interested in the apartment at Rue Louis de Savoie, 90?"
Me: "OF COURSE WE ARE"
Housing Agent: "OK - We will prepare the contract"
YIPEE! - We got a place from our very first application! This is the apartment that Albert Meyer stays in - the same guy who was kind enough to write us a recommendation letter - who also happens to be the HR Director in charge of Insurance and Salary at EPFL!
The apartment is 73m2 - consists of 1 big bedroom, huge hall, small kitchen and a toilet. It is on the 3rd and highest storey. There is a chinese restaurant below us and it is a ONE minute walk to the main street.
We have big plans for this place. We will buy a sofa bed for the hall (so that friends and family can visit), a proper dining table / work table for me and a proper bed for Jem and I + wardrobe to keep all our clothes!
Jem and I are soo excited as we just couldn't believe our luck! We submitted just 2 applications and got one of them. Although, deep down inside us - we prefer the other place as it has 2 bedrooms and CHF 30 cheaper :)
Oh well - we are just happy that we did not have to sleep on the streets or keep moving from one temp place to another.
Shame that we didn't manage to take any photos when we last visited the place but here is what the building looks like from outside..
Our future home is right at the top of this building (above the blue car).. Window on the right is the bedroom window and left is the hall window.

This house is only available from 1 Feb 2010. We can't wait to shift in! Since I will be in Singapore - Happy Moving, sweetheart!
PS: This place is only down the street from where we live (about 3 minutes walk)
